Lanzerac

For those interested in our wine heritage, and history, be sure to make your way to the Lanzerac  - currently offering a tour around the Estate - but only until the end of March. With a glass of Rosé to get you going, your tour guide will provide you with a brief overview of what to expect during the tour. Highlights will include a tasting of  the "Mrs English", a reserve Chardonnay. This wine is a tribute to Mrs English who purchased the farm in 1914, changing its name from Schoongezicht to Lanzerac. This will be followed by an introduction, and a tasting of the Estate's Pinotage. From an historical point of view, the world’s first commercially produced Pinotage - a 1959 vintage came from this Estate. (It was

Met Eish Ja… S.A’s Brandy Route

SA-Brandy-Foundation

Many of us have been on a wine tour – or have at least heard of one. Fact is, how many of us have ever heard of, let alone been on, a Brandy Route Tour? However, thanks to the über cool people at the South African Brandy Foundation, this reality seems set to change – big time. First off though – some interesting facts: Did you know that South Africa has two distinct Brandy Routes? One being up along Route 62, and the other (comprising over 14 producers), called the “Western Cape Route”, primarily covering the areas around Wellington, Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek; Despite widespread public perception, South Africa can be extremely proud of the fact that our Brandy’s are ranked as being of the finest in

two oceans wines

If you are under the impression that Two Oceans is the name of the next Pirates of the Caribbean Movie, a horse that didn’t run in the Durban July or the plural of a large body of water, you are horribly mistaken. Two Oceans is, of course, one of the world’s favourite brands of wine. Two Oceans is sold and enjoyed in almost 100 countries. Although the brand is currently most popular in South Africa, Canada and Sweden, its popularity is growing fast, with Finland set to join this elite club of international wine lovers. Let the countdown begin

remembering 2010

With the start of Euro 2012, soccer fans around the world are breathing a collective sigh of relief. Having been starved of top quality, international football for far too long, the BIG Men at the top are finally at work in Poland and the Ukraine. As usual, they are giving us the greenest of pitches and the sharpest of televised images of those sweat-exploding, ultra-slow motion headers and overhead, HD shots. The only problem is that, mixed with these feelings of satisfaction, South Africans cannot deny that sadly nostalgic, post 2010 feeling- not so long ago, it was all happening right here. In fact, it was exactly two years ago today. It is hard to believe that just 730 days ago our country was the most exciting place to be on

Making a difference through social media Social media has covered some fascinating ground. From its inception and almost supernatural ability to connect long lost friends, colleagues and lovers, to giving people the chance to share everything from their nail polish preferences to their bowel movements, social media has infiltrated each and every corner of our daily lives. But it’s not all about bored narcissists sitting at their PC’s that make up this virtual universe. Thanks to #TBDZA (Twitter-driven blanket drive), this powerful medium has been used to achieve massive charitable goals in South Africa, and looks to grow even more this year. #TBDZA Is the country’s largest social media-fuelled

The 2010 Fifa World Cup was a highlight, as has been the rapid adoption of social media as a primary form of communication. Building on this great foundation, we've expanded rapidly, adding What's Up Jozi, What's Up Durban, What's Up PE, What's Up South Africa, as well as partnering with STA World Traveller Liam
