
It has been an interesting time for Art in Joburg in recent weeks, to say the very least. With political interest, public opinion and the age-old practice of defining and re-defining ‘art’ surfacing everywhere you care to look, it is clear is that this creative medium continues to be a thing of power that demands respect as it provokes, questions and entertains in equal measure. This week sees the opening of a new, thought-provoking exhibition at Birdhaven's In Toto Gallery. This latest collection presents work from a selection of artists, all of whom have contributed pieces that are linked to the imaginative- sometimes euphoric, sometimes frightening- realm that is the mysterious alternative to our reality-
