Meeting friends in a restaurant…

The rhythm of life is very fast and does not allow for long breaks or time to dwell in a place to relax for extended time periods. The more valuable, therefore, is the time spend with family and friends. In the daily routine, there are only few occasions where one can discuss problems and just let someone else know what is on one’s mind at a special moment.  One occasion to share a good time with the closest pals is by dining together. While eating a delicious meal, one can have a chat at the table and listen to the conversation partner as well. Inspiring the senses through food When sitting in a good restaurant, one is often more talkative than in other situations. That is because one’s taste and smell are relaxed and it

Rabbit in the Moon, Illovo

rabbit in the moon

The search for good restaurants in a big city is a never-ending journey, fraught with love, danger, ecstasy and disappointment. If you have been disappointed and are looking to take your appetite elsewhere, we strongly suggest Rabbit in the Moon. There is something of an Alice in Wonderland quality about Rabbit in the Moon. Although devoid of drug-induced literature, burrowing rodents or a nearby abyss, it does present a secret world that’s hidden in the corner of the Thrupps Centre, Illovo. Inside, the literary theme continues. The colourful walls are adorned with portraits of many of the great writers and the walls, in turn, support a ceiling on which excerpts from famous literary works can be found. It’s good to

Spiceburg

A little piece on India in Greenside India is country that must be visited.  With its fascinating history, colours, sights and sounds it is a true marvel for tourists.  However, in this writer’s opinion, the one thing that stands out more than all others is the food.  When returning from India, bereft of its cuisine, one is left to roam the streets of Johannesburg in a perpetual state of hunger.  If the street in question is Gleneagles Road, Greenside, you need not worry- Spiceburg is round the corner. Spiceburg is a restaurant that takes you by surprise.  It’s name can be a potential cause for concern as it lies somewhere between the words ‘spice,’

Three Ships Honours Famous Navigator of Old.

Three-ships-10-year-old

Three Ships has launched the second of a series of three commemorative editions of its 10 year-old single malt whisky honouring intrepid explorers associated with the Cape. It recalls the epic journey of Vasco da Gama, the first European navigator to reach India. It follows on the first edition, issued at the end of last year, commemorating the journey of Bartholomew Diaz who with his three little ships was the first from Europe to round what he was to name the Cape of Storms. The second edition will be followed next year by the last of the trio which will be dedicated to Jan van Riebeeck whose little fleet of three ships sailed into Table Bay on 6 April 1652. However, the whisky in all three is the
