Coming up with a band name is one of the most difficult tasks that a musician can face. With an endless pool of competition, this name needs to stand apart from the rest, be instantly recognisable and provide some kind of connection to the band’s music. In the case of Zebra and Giraffe, the group may have little to do with camouflaged peers of the savannah, but it is instantly recognisable and synonymous with one of the country’s finest musical exports.
The multi-award-winning Zebra and Giraffe has gone through many changes over the years, culminating in their latest album, The Wisest Ones. This album incorporates many of the band’s international rock influences and showcases their continuing desire to experiment while solidifying their roots as one of the country’s most prominent alternative rock groups.
Very soon the band will be taking themselves and their latest album on tour, traversing the US and Europe. Before this adventure, however, local fans will be treated to the legendary live shows and latest songs as part of a 9-city, South African tour.
The tour reaches Jozi on 15 September, when Zebra and Giraffe are set to rock Tanz Café, Fourways.
Presale tickets are available for the show at R70 and can be bought at www.webtickets.co.za. Alternatively, they can be purchased for R80 at the door.
