Celebrate ‘Howloween’ at The Johannesburg Zoo

Halloween at the Johannesburg Zoo

Zoos are not considered to be particularly scary places. However, if the cages were removed, raw meat placed in your pockets and a juicy bone in your hand, as you traversed the darkened pathways on a star-less night, this would all change rather quickly. But for now, zoos will remain places of conservation, education and entertainment.

This coming Saturday, The Johannesburg Zoo will take on a more sinister role as it celebrates Halloween or rather, the more aptly named ‘Howloween.’

The ‘Howloween’ Evening at The Johannesburg Zoo will introduce visitors to a whole new array of ‘creatures’ on its premises. In addition to visiting to the famous animal residents, on Saturday you are invited to explore the scary haunted forest, the more pleasant enchanted forest, the ghost house and the slithering house. Visitors are also invited to take part in the age-old Halloween practice of trick or treating.

There will also be prizes for the best costumes on show and the chance to enjoy the fantastic children’s’ play area.

Tickets are R58 for adults and R36 for children between the ages of 3 and 12. Contact the Johannesburg Zoo for more details. It will be a scream.
