State of The Art

It is often difficult to find time to slip out and visit an art gallery.  If you are lucky enough to get to one, you are often made painfully aware of the orthodoxy and elitism that hangs around in those echoing chambers.  Well, today comes an innovative and original solution in the form of State of the Art.  This is one of the most accessible art galleries in the world, as it is a purely online and virtual space.

State of the Art presents, sources and sells original and contemporary South African artworks.  These are rigorously selected from a pool of local, emerging artists and are sold to you, at affordable prices, through the website.

Each month, one of the curators picks a selection of artworks for their exhibition and this is presented in an interactive, 3D, virtual environment, through which you can wander at your leisure.  Not only are there are ‘view to scale’ tools to help you examine the works in any way that you wish, there are also readily available artists’ biographies and portfolios on view.

With its easy access and strong goals of supporting new artistic talent in South Africa, State of the Art provides both a necessary and attractive space for the prospective art buyer and enthusiast alike.
