Although the link between facial hair and the treatment of cancer is a tenuous one, this Thursday marks the beginning of the moustache-themed month of Movember- a time proudly used by men everywhere to raise awareness about men’s health by employing the unique medium of moustache growing.
Movember is a worldwide phenomenon that aims to raise awareness and vital funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.
To participate and make you own hairy mark on the Movember landscape, you first need to be able to grow a moustache. Second, you must register on the official Movember website and enter the month clean-shaven.
As your facial hair begins to develop throughout the month, reminding those around you that the link between man and ape is not too distant, you will be taking your place alongside other hairy participants. Together, you will become walking and talking billboards for the initiative, encouraging people to confront the often neglected issue of men’s health.
Although unable to grow a suitable cancer-awareness banner under their own noses, women are also encouraged to register to support the participating men and help to raise funds for this vital cause.
