Winter is well and truly here and it’s colder than we remember. Midday is beautiful, with mild weather and clear skies. The mornings and nights, however, are icy and turn us into hibernating, antisocial, duvet-clad wrecks. One good reason to get out of bed in the morning is Guru.

Particularly attractive on those chilly mornings, Guru is a warm haven in the vibrant Parktown Quarter on the corner of 3^rd and 7^th avenues, Parktown North. It opens early (6am!) and immediately begins to serve the bleary eyed citizens of Jozi its outstanding coffee. This fantastic liquid is just as good whether enjoyed as a takeaway or inside the cosy shop itself.

But it’s not all about the coffee at Guru. Aside from other beverages- from fruit juice to milkshakes- the ready-made sandwiches and snacks on offer will fill that other empty spot.

Guru is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat, do some work or have a quick meeting. It is one of those places that, in addition to delicious food and drink, proves another essential element to our busy lives- sanity.
